Provided is a blood glucose meter that easily distinguishes between the measurement of blood glucose levels and confirmation of past glucose levels with a minimum number of operation buttons, and combines both high functionality and simplicity. A cap, which protects an optical measuring unit of the blood glucose meter, is provided, and a micro switch, which detects states in which the cap is attached to or detached from a casing, is provided. When an input/output control unit detects that the cap has been detached from the casing, the input/output control unit switches from a power saving mode to a measuring mode. |
