<p>Provided is a low-activity catalyst for oxidation of nitrogen oxides, suited to installation at the upstream side along an exhaust passage of a diesel engine or the like, and having selectivity such that oxidative activity with respect to NO is relatively high, while oxidative activity with respect to CH is relatively low. This catalyst for oxidation of nitrogen oxides has as the main component a perovskite complex oxide composed of an alkaline earth metal and a transition metal, wherein the transition metal constituting the perovskite complex oxide includes a first transition metal, and a second transition metal substituted onto a portion of the first transition metal. The catalyst for oxidation of nitrogen oxides is preferably one based on BaZrO3 or SrZrO3, having Co or Mn substituted onto a portion of the Zr sites.</p> |
