699,231. Loom brakes. FALLS FLAX SPINNING CO., Ltd. Feb. 9. 1951 [May 10, 1949], No. 12420/49. Class 142(i) [Also in Group XXXIV] A brake is actuated by a pivoted lever releasably connected to the starting handle of a loom and is arranged to release itself automatically when the lever is disconnected from the starting handle. A lever 18, pivoted on a stud 24, moves a bar 14 provided with a cam-shaped block 16 to operate a brake shoe 7. A releasable connection 27 connects the lever to the starting handle 21 and, when the loom is running, the handle engages an arm 29 and pivots the lever 18 so that the block 16 does not lift the brake shoe against a handwheel 10. When the handle is moved to stop the loom, the lever is pivoted in the opposite direction and the brake is operated. If the connection 27 is turned about its pivot to disconnect it from the handle 21, the shoe 7 will fall away from the wheel 10 and the inclined cam face on the block 16 will cause the lever 18 to swing to one side.
|
