发明名称 Adaptative persistent push
摘要
A method for providing resources (i.e. data) from a server to a client, the method comprising: providing an indication from the server to the client, indicating/advertising that the server is configured to activate a persistent push feature upon authorization by the client, said persistent push feature allowing the server to push resources 460 to the client at any time (i.e. to perform continuous push or indefinite-end push), according to a persistent push policy; and receiving, at the server, a first message 420 from the client, said first message being based on said indication and allowing the server to continuously push resources to the client (i.e. activating the persistent push feature). The data may be pushed over a HTTP/TCP/SPDY/HTTP/2 connection. A persistent push is described as a push operation that may be performed at any time while the persistent push feature is activated/allowed. Once persistent push is activated the server may keep open 430 the client-initiated stream to be able to send PUSH_PROMISE frames 450 at any time. The client may also exchange control messages 470 with the server to adapt the persistent push policy, whilst the stream is kept open. Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) may also be used. The first message may comprise a persistent push activation flag or header. The method also include cancelling 485 at least a set of promised resources upon identifying a persistent push modification event.
