The conveyor (10) has a conveying element (13) e.g. pocket chain, including receivers (16) for products e.g. cigarettes, to be transported. The conveying element is intermittently driven by a drive shaft (17) over a stepping gear, and a rotary balancing mass (38) is driven with the drive shaft over another stepping gear (37). A gear wheel (23) is set on a drive shaft of the former stepping gear, and the balancing mass and the latter stepping gear are formed such that the torque fluctuations of the drive shaft resulting from mass inertia of the conveying element is counteracted. The stepping gears are formed as cam gears.
