Method and apparatus for the decompaction of material

The device (10) has two parallel rollers (12, 14) rotating against each other. A gap (66) for receiving a material (40) to be decompacted remains between the rollers. The rollers rotate with different rotational speeds so that the material enters into the gap between the rollers and exposed to shear forces. A circumferential speed of the rollers is adjustable in a range from 0.1 m/s to 10 m/s. A width of the gap is adjustable in a range from 0 to 100 mm. A surface material of a roller body i.e. standard tire, is provided as an elastic material. An independent claim is also included for a method for decompaction of a material.
