A variable-length strap comprises first and second inelastic strap parts 21 and 22 and an elastic strap part 23 connected to the ends of the first and second strap parts 21, 22. The adjacent ends of the first and second strap parts have stop members 25, 26 which cooperate with respective stop members 29, 30 at respective end regions of a third inelastic strap part 24. The stop members 25, 26, 29, 30 contact each other when the elastic part 23 is extended, thereby preventing further extension of the elastic part 23. When the strap is not being used, it can contract in length to prevent it trailing on the ground. |
