The present invention relates to a video surveillance system and a method for controlling the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the video surveillance system includes a video acquiring unit for acquiring the video of a surveillance region; a video recording unit for recording the video; a computer for monitoring the surveillance region by using the video; a network switch for connecting the video acquiring unit, the video recording unit and the computer; a UPS for supplying power to at least one of the video acquiring unit, the video recording unit, the computer and the network switch upon a power failure; and a control server for controlling at least one of the video acquiring unit, the video recording unit and the computer through the network switch if a warning message is received from the network switch or the UPS. |
