<p>A component 40 is coated 41 with a polymer that protects it from corrosion whilst affording electrical conductivity of the coated component. The polymer is derived from an acrylate, methacrylate or organosilane. The coating process preferably involves low power or low pressure plasma polymerisation. The component is preferably an electrical component that has been pre-treated with plasma. The monomers are preferably (meth)acrylic ester of a perfluorocarbon, disiloxane, disilazane, cyclo-siloxane, cyclo-silazane. The coated component has specified oil and water repellent properties. The electrical component is preferably a smart phone, mobile telephone, personal digit assistant, loudspeaker, tablet computer, music player, e-reader, keyboard, GPS system, pedometer, heart rate monitor, cadence sensor, video or photo camera, printed circuit board, battery, SIM card or connector.</p> |
