Provided is a mobile terminal comprising: a case having a front case and a rear case; a frame arranged between the front case and the rear case; a multi-channel electrodes proximity sensor consisting of electrodes divided into multiple channels by being disposed at intervals in an upper bezel area; and a controller performing gesture recognition by calculating directivity of an approaching object based on a change of a capacitance value of each of the channels of the multi-channel electrodes proximity sensor.
