A roof access device comprising a single step for use on a sloping roof and provides a working surface such as a surface for a workman's tools or providing an area to stand on. The step is ideally secured to horizontal battens of a roof by hooks which locate under the battens and can be located in place by a sliding bolt. One side of the step may be longer than a second shorter side of the step which provides a second working surface such that the step is reversible and can be used in a second orientation on roofs having a different angle of inclination; for this purpose each hook consists of two prongs extending in opposite directions. A series of steps may be individually secured on a roof to be tiled to provide a worker with a walking surface. |
