1. A method for lubricating an internal combustion engine, comprising supplying to said engine a lubricating composition comprising:
(a) at least about 60 percent by weight of an oil of lubricating viscosity; (b) about 20 to about 40 parts per million by weight of titanium in the form of an oil-soluble titanium alkoxide; (c) about 0.7 to about 3.0 percent by weight of a metal-containing salicylate detergent other than a Ti-containing detergent; and (d) about 0.01 to about 0.05 percent by weight of boron in the form of a borate ester or a dispersant post-treated by reaction with a boron compound. |
