A method for electrocrushing micro-encapsulated gold particles comprising: suspending the micro-encapsulated gold particles in a fluid flow; disposing a plurality of electrodes in the fluid; tuning the characteristics of the fluid flow and the electrodes to optimize disintegration of the micro-encapsulated gold particles; sending an electric pulse to the electrodes to provide a voltage sufficient to create an electric field internal to the micro-encapsulated gold particles that exceeds the dielectric strength of the micro-encapsulated gold particles without exceeding the dielectric strength of the fluid; and electrocrushing the micro-encapsulated gold particles.
