[Also in Group XXIV] A gear box casing 4, for reduction, bevel, worm, change-speed &c. gearing, shown as reduction gearing, is connected to an electric motor 1 and carries in one block 12 the bearings 7, 9, 14, 15 of gear shafts 18, 20, which block can be fitted as a whole in the casing and which simultaneously forms the casing cover, the gear box casing being interchangeably secured to the motor by a flanged connection and comprising only a single chamber. Separate covers 16, 17 close the end of the -unitary block 12 and a gear 19 dips into the oil in a sump 21 to provide splash lubrication of the pinions.
