PURPOSE: A home gateway providing additional information related to the content and an additional information providing method thereof are provided to efficiently and quickly supply the additional information to other devices by obtaining and caching the additional information related to the content played through a specific device on a home network. CONSTITUTION: When a request for additional information related to the currently played content is received from a first device, a home gateway confirms the information from a content information management unit(S420). If there is an additional information related to the currently played content in the cached additional information, the home gateway detects and obtains the requested additional information from the cached additional information(S430,S460). The home gateway provides the obtained additional information to the first device(S470).
