PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve bending resistance of a thin film transistor (TFT) for driving a flexible display.SOLUTION: A thin film transistor array substrate comprises: an island-shaped buffer layer 102 formed on a plastic substrate 105 for relaxing a stress; and a TFT 101 formed on the buffer layer 102. With this configuration, the thin film transistor array substrate which ensures high bending resistance irrespective of a semiconductor material is obtained. Further, a high-resolution flexible display is achieved by the thin film transistor array substrate.
