SUCCESSIVE APPROXIMATION AD CONVERTER AND METHOD OF OPERATING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a successive approximation AD converter that reduces the effect of power supply noise.SOLUTION: A successive approximation AD converter 1 comprises: an analog input side capacitor array 2; an analog input side selector array 3; a reference side capacitor array 4; a reference side selector array 5; and a comparator 6. The analog input side selector array 3 is controlled in response to a comparison result signal output from the comparator. In one of a plurality of comparison operations performed in the successive approximation AD converter, a state of the analog input side selector array 3 is stored, and in the comparison operation next to the one comparison operation, the reference side selector array 5 is controlled in response to the state of the analog input side selector array 3 in the one comparison operation.
