METHOD AND COMPUTER FOR CHANGEOVER FROM POWER-ON STATE TO POWER-SAVING STATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power state controlling method that balances securing opportunity of quick resumption with reducing power consumption.SOLUTION: An upper limit value Pih and a lower limit value Pil of a power idle state are set for the magnitude of power consumption of a system. The power consumption of the system in a power-on state is calculated. The system changes over to a suspended state when a predetermined time elapses after the system changes over to the power idle state with the lowering of the power consumption. The system having smaller power consumption than the prior art can more reasonably balance securing opportunity of quick resumption with reducing power consumption than systems controlling power states with the idle time based on the utilization rate of the CPU.
