PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy of phase difference detection.SOLUTION: An imaging element includes a plurality of pairs of phase difference detection pixels and is configured so that a plurality of phase difference lines along a pupil division direction are arranged in an orthogonal direction orthogonal to the pupil division direction. A detection part detects an abnormal value out of output values outputted from the phase difference detection pixels on the basis of a comparison result of the output values between a plurality of phase difference lines. A focus determination part determines a plurality of phase difference lines to be used for phase difference detection out of a plurality of phase difference lines in a phase difference detection area as use lines on the basis of the detection result of the detection part.
