<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a mechanism for positioning a disk carrying unit relative to a disk housing vessel and a mechanism for determining the presence/absence of a disk in the disk housing vessel in a library apparatus having a disk recording/playback unit, a disk housing vessel and a disk carrying unit for carrying a disk between them.SOLUTION: A hole matching a slot for housing a disk is formed in a disk housing vessel. A single optical detector of ternary output or two optical detectors of binary output, for example, that moves together with a disk carrying unit are provided. A controller detects the hole with the output(s) of the optical detector(s), positions the disk carrying unit relative to the disk housing vessel and determines the presence or absence of a disk in the slot.</p> |
