PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress variation in a resistance value of a heating coil, and to improve the temperature rise performance of a heater.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a glow plug equipped with a heater having a tube molded in a cylindrical shape, and a heating coil provided in the inside of the tube and heating by energization, includes: a preparing step for preparing the heating coil and the tube; an inserting step for inserting the heating coil into the tube until a spiral tip end portion of the heating coil abuts on an inner peripheral surface of a tip end portion of the tube; a holding step for moving at least one of the heating coil and the tube in an axial direction by predetermined amount so as to separate the spiral tip end portion of the heating coil and the inner peripheral surface on the tip end side of the tube in the axial direction of the tube, after abutting, and holding the heating coil and the tube while moving those by the predetermined amount; and a welding step for welding a welded portion of the heating coil and the tip end portion of the tube in a held state. |
