The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for extending memories in a terminal and, specifically, to an apparatus and a method for extending memories in a terminal, which may selectively extend the memories. To achieve the purpose mentioned above, the apparatus for extending the memories in the terminal comprises: a socket part into which an external memory embedding a RAM is inserted; and a controller for performing a control operation to move data stored in the RAM of the terminal to a RAM of the external memory, and secure an available space for the RAM of the terminal when the external memory embedding the RAM is inserted into the socket part.
