PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack pinion type steering device which has a small number of components, thereby enabling easy assembly and reducing operation sounds.SOLUTION: A rack pinion type steering device comprises: a steering mechanism composed of a rack shaft 14 and a pinion shaft 13; a ball joint 14c; a rack housing 15; and a rack stopper 20 provided at a holding hole 28 formed at an end part of the rack housing 15. The rack stopper 20 is composed of: a stopper part 21 which is formed by a metal material formed into a substantially cylindrical shape and fits in an end part of the rack housing 15 to restrict a stroke end of the ball joint 14c; and a support part 22 which is formed by a synthetic resin material and is integrated with an inner diameter part 21a of the stopper part 21 to support the rack shaft 14. The rack stopper 20 slidably supports the rack shaft 14, and one end of the rack stopper 20 contacts with an end part of the ball joint 14c at a stroke end of the rack shaft 14. |
