PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acoustic processing device and acoustic processing method for increasing the speech recognition rate by adding an auxiliary noise.SOLUTION: A noise suppression section detects a noise component included in an input acoustic signal and suppresses the noise component detected from the acoustic signal. An auxiliary noise addition section generates an auxiliary noise addition signal by adding an auxiliary noise to the acoustic signal whose noise component is suppressed by the noise suppression section. A distortion degree calculation section calculates the distortion degree of the auxiliary noise addition signal. An addition quantity determination section controls the addition quantity of the auxiliary noise added by the noise addition section on the basis of the distortion degree.
