PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the consumption of a clear coating agent that covers a pattern.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a data analyzing unit that determines the type and range of each of a plurality of objects of print data comprising the objects; a pattern forming unit that forms a pattern on a print medium; an image forming unit that forms an image on the print medium with a coloring agent; a clear coating agent attaching unit that attaches a clear coating agent to the print medium that has passed through the pattern forming unit and the image forming unit; and a clear coating agent layer thickness determination unit that determines the layer thickness of the clear coating agent which the clear coating agent attaching unit overlaps on the pattern formed on the print medium according to the determination of the type of the objects. The clear coating agent layer thickness determination unit determines the layer thickness of the clear coating agent at ends of the pattern thinner than at the central part of the pattern. |
