<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module capable of performing preferable optical transmission between an optical fiber and the optical module, and to provide a fitting unit including the optical module and an optical connector.SOLUTION: The optical module comprises: a fiber optic transceiver (FOT) 123 including a light-emitting element 126 performing optical transmission between the light-emitting element and a light receiving surface 31a consisting of an end face of an optical fiber 31 having a core and a clad covering an outside surface of the core; and a housing 112 in which a cylindrical part 135 having a holding part 122 holding the FOT 123, an opening 131 facing the light-emitting element 126, and an opening 137 into which a tip of the optical fiber is inserted is formed.
