PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device that is capable of a quick projection after a lens is interchanged.SOLUTION: The projection type display device capable of interchanging a lens includes: a main body section; a lens unit that is mountable and demountable to and from the main body section; a lens cover that is attached to the main body section so as to protect the lens unit; a lens interchange detection section that detects an attachment/mounting and a detachment/demounting of the lens cover or the lens unit; and a control section that determines an attachment/mounting and detachment/demounting states of the lens cover or the lens unit on the basis of a signal from the lens interchange detection section. When it is determined that the lens cover or the lens unit is removed on the basis of the signal in a state where a power source of the projection type display device is turned on, the control section transitions a mode from a projection mode to a lens interchange mode. |
