FIELD: chemistry.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of converting an aromatic dialdehyde or a mixture of aromatic dialdehydes to a reaction product which is an aromatic acyl halide or a mixture of aromatic acyl halides in a reaction medium which is free from xylene, said method comprising bringing the aromatic dialdehyde or mixture of aromatic dialdehydes in contact with a halogen to obtain the reaction product, wherein the reaction mixture includes an additional solvent selected from a group consisting of any aromatic acyl halide and mixtures thereof. Particularly, the aromatic dialdehyde is terephthaldehyde, the aromatic acyl halide is terephthaloyldichloride, and the halogen is chlorine.EFFECT: method enables to obtain the desired products with high output and selectivity.8 cl, 10 ex |
