A process for the purification of liquid radioactive wastes (LRW) from radioactive components consists in LRW prepurification for removal of mechanical and organic admixtures, accumulation of preliminarily purified LRW and purification of accumulated LRW by means of ion-exchange filters. For removal of mechanical admixtures after the LRW prepurification the purified solution is heated to preset temperature, crystalline compounds with activity not exceeding permissible radioactivity level are separated by fine crystallization. Final mother solution is prepared, and nonradioactive crystalline compounds are processed to commercial products or piled at landfill for nonradiactive wastes, wherein the purification of final radioactive mother solution by means of ion-exchange filters is carried out by passing thereof through cation-exchange filters in K-form up to radioactivity passage, with the preparation of purified radioactive solution components with activity not exceeding permissible radioactivity level and radioactive cationite. The radioactive cationite is unloaded and prepared for storage with loading of new portion of cationite and converting thereof to K-form by passing potassium nitrate solution through loaded cationite. |
