METHOD FOR ASSESSING EFFICACY OF L-ARGININE IN TREATING ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE WITH ANGINA PECTORIS

A method for assessing the efficacy of L-arginine in treating the ischemic heart disease with angina pectoris provides for the comparison of the state of patient prior to and after the treatment. Prior to the treatment with L-arginine, 5 mL of the blood is sampled from the cubital vein of the patient at rest. The viscosity of the blood is measured in rotational viscosimeter at the shearing forces within 0.020-8.8 dyn/cm. The analogous procedures are performed after the treatment with L-arginine. If the viscosity at 0.3 dyn/cmdecreases by more than 7.3 % as compared with that prior to the treatment, the hemorheological result and the antianginal effect are considered as the positive ones.
