A coupling for interconnection of screw pile pipe components, comprises a cast female coupling part and a cast male coupling part. The cast female coupling part has an axial bore and includes a mounting portion 36 adapted to be secured to the plain end of a pile pipe element, an inner reinforcing collar portion adjacent to the mounting portion, a substantially cylindrical body portion 31 extending from the reinforcing collar portion 40, and an outer reinforcing collar portion 44. The inner and outer reinforcing collars back integrally cast lugs 33 formed on the wall of the bore. The cast male coupling part includes a mounting portion 52 adapted to be secured to the plain end of a pile pipe element and has an outer substantially cylindrical surface 46 having recessed portions 55 adapted to be engaged by the lugs 33. The lugs 33 and recesses 55 are configured to allow axial insertion of the male coupling part into the axial bore of the female coupling part followed by rotation into torque transmitting engagement which prevents axial disengagement. |
