A propulsion device for a ship and a ship having the same are disclosed. The propulsion device for the ship according to the embodiments of the present invention comprises: a rear propeller fixed to a rotary shaft; a front propeller supported to the rotary shaft in front of the rear propeller to be rotated; a gear box received in an installation space in the rear end of a hull; a drive bevel gear which is installed inside the gear box and is rotated with the rotary shaft by a front connecting member; a driven bevel gear installed inside the gear box to be rotated; one or more counter bevel gears which reverses the rotation of the drive bevel gear to transfer the reversed rotation to the driven bevel gear; a counter rotating device which connects the driven bevel gear and the hub of the front propeller to each other and has a rear connecting member having a connecting flange coupled to the front surface of the hub of the front propeller; and a sealing device which is installed between the rear surface of the gear box and the front surface of the connecting flange and seals the space between the gear box and the connecting flange.
