Combustion system (1) consisting of a wood burner (2) which has a fire base (3) forming the bottom of a firebox, primary combustion zone (4) for pyrolysising and combusting wood, and a secondary combustion zone (5) for combusting gases and/or particulate matter produced from the reaction of the biomass fuel. Secondary air supply means supplies super-heated air from the top of the primary combustion chamber. The combustion system also includes an exhaust flue (7) extending to a position near to the secondary combustion zone and/or the fire base. Suitable for use in retrofitting existing wood burners or incorporating into new wood burners. |
