Provided is a convertor capable of determining the presence or absence of failure in a detection unit for detecting each AC and DC voltage or each AC and DC current. A convertor (23) comprises: an AC-DC conversion circuit (4), a DC-DC conversion circuit (5) for converting a DC voltage output from the AC-DC conversion circuit (4), and a detection unit for detecting each AC and DC voltage or each AC and DC current, the convertor (23) further comprising: an acquisition unit for acquiring information representing the presence or absence of an application of the AC voltage to the AC-DC conversion circuit (4); and a power-source short circuit determination unit for determining the presence or absence of a power-source short circuit or an open-state of the detection unit when the acquired information indicates that an AC voltage was not applied to the AC-DC conversion circuit (4).
