PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover cellulose ester from material of multi-layer structure that includes cellulose ester layer and hard coat, efficiently, effectively and with high yield.SOLUTION: The cellulose ester is recovered as a cellulose ester material 34 from a surplus material 72 by using recovery equipment 90. The surplus material 72 includes optically anisotropic portion and saponified material, the optically anisotropic portion has liquid crystal layer and alignment layer, and the saponified material has cellulose ester layer and saponified layer. The surplus material 72 is immersed into water 95 at 50°C or more so as to be contacted with it and the decomposition and dissolution of the optically anisotropic portion are carried out . A crude saponified material 88 thus obtained is washed with water 58 to yield a saponified material 10. The saponified material 10 is contacted with a cellulase aqueous solution 48 so as to be immersed into it to decompose the saponified layer, and a crude cellulose ester material 28 thus obtained is washed with water 58. After washing, it is dried to yield a cellulose ester material 34. |
