PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine control device capable of appropriately suppressing occurrence of pre-ignition at time of starting an engine due to fixing of valve timing of an air intake valve to a second phase as a result of occurrence of abnormality such as breaking to a control valve.SOLUTION: A control device exercises an automatic stop/start control for automatically stopping operation of an engine when an automatic stop condition is satisfied, and for automatically starting the engine when an automatic start condition is satisfied. When the engine is automatically started at an engine temperature equal to or higher than a predetermined reference temperature, the control device exercises a delay control for delaying a start period of fuel injection during cranking in a case where valve timing of an air intake valve is fixed to intermediate timing compared with a case where the valve timing is fixed to a most retarded phase.
