PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assist gas exchange method and a device capable of quickly exchanging assist gas in a nozzle of a processing head in a laser beam machine.SOLUTION: In the exchange method of the assist gas in the nozzle in the laser processing head, the assist gas GA to be exchanged is intermittently supplied in the nozzle 7 in a position separated from an opening part 7A of the nozzle 7, and the assist gas GB to be exchanged existing in the nozzle 7 is discharged from the opening part 7A of the nozzle 7. Time when the assist gas GA to be exchanged is intermittently supplied in the nozzle 7, is a range of 0.1 sec-2.0 sec. The assist gas GA to be exchanged supplied in the nozzle 7 is expanded in the vicinity of a supply port 7B of the nozzle 7, and the assist gas GB positioned in the vicinity of the opening part 7A of the nozzle 7 is discharged to an external part by the expansion of this assist gas GA. |
