Class 12(1) In a roller bearing, one of the race members is provided with an annular rib 8 which engages grooves intermediate the length of the rollers, and a cage, comprising an annular disc 9 having circumferentially spaced open slots 10 which engage the reduced necks of the rollers 5, is supported upon the annular rib 8. The cage is capable of radial elastic deformation to facilitate assembly, and may consist of a stamped sheet-metal ring having recesses in one edge in staggered relation to the roller engaging slots 10 in the other edge. As shown in Fig. 1 the rollers 5 are conical, the rib 8 is provided on the inner race 3, and the cage 9 is dished so as to be at right angles to the axes of the rollers. The rib 8 has a plain cylindrical surface 11 of diameter substantially equal to the maximum diameter of the inner race. In a modification a rib 8<SP>1</SP> is provided on the outer race 1, Fig. 5, and the open slots 10' are in the outer edge of the cage 9<SP>1</SP>.
