摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering control device for a vehicle and a steering control method for a vehicle that can appropriately control a steering motor relative to steering operation by a driver even when torque fluctuation occurs in a torque transmission path.SOLUTION: A pinion angle of a universal joint is calculated based on a value obtained by inputting a steering angle to a preset universal joint output angle calculation model. A phase of the pinion angle is displaced at 45 [deg] of a mechanical angle to calculate a phase correction value. On the basis of the calculated phase correction value, an input/output torque ratio on the basis of a ratio between the steering angle input to the universal joint and an output angle output from the universal joint on the basis of the input steering angle is calculated. On the basis of the calculated input/output torque ratio and steering torque applied to a steering wheel, a command value of assist torque output from an actuator that rotates in accordance with a steering state of the steering wheel is calculated.
