PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet irradiator entailing a low production cost.SOLUTION: A joint 1a for a treated water inflow hole and a joint 1b for a treated water outflow hole are configured on a hollow cylindrical casing 1. A rod-shaped ultraviolet lamp 2 is placed at the center of the interior of the casing 1. The ultraviolet lamp 2 is housed within an ultraviolet lamp protective tube 3 consisting of an ultraviolet-permeable material (e.g., quartz) so as to block the invasion of treated water. The joint 1a for an inflow hole and joint 1b for an outflow hole are placed in opposition to the ultraviolet lamp 2 so as to irradiate the joint 1a for an inflow hole and joint 1b for an outflow hole with ultraviolet rays UV emitted from the ultraviolet lamp 2. The joint 1a for an inflow hole and joint 1b for an outflow hole are each constituted by a transparent ultraviolet-resistant material (e.g., fluorinated copolymer) including an inorganic phosphor. The inorganic phosphor converts the ultraviolet rays UV into visible lights V. |
