FACING HEAD HAVING HIGH PERFORMANCES AND HIGH ACCURACY

A facing head is adapted for application on machine tools for facing and reaming and comprises innovative features with the main purpose of increasing its accuracy. Unlike existing facing heads, both the system for driving the movement and the system for measuring the radial movement of the slide are mounted on the rotating part of the facing head, thereby guaranteeing very high accuracy, whilst the related electrical and fluid connections are guaranteed by electrical and fluid collectors located along the axis of the facing head. The facing head, unlike existing facing heads which have a direct rotational drive system, is also characterized in that rotation is transmitted by way of at least two gear trains which make it possible to increase available torque and speed.
