PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a machining unit that includes two work spindles.SOLUTION: A machining unit of the present invention includes two work spindles (5.1, 5.2), and a tool for machining one surface of at least one workpiece W received on a work-table using a workpiece transfer carriage by use of at least one tool holding magazine. The work-table is disposed in the form of a cross table 2, and is horizontally movable in the X direction over a moving distance (sX) and in the Y-direction over a moving distance (sY). The work spindles (5.1, 5.2) are vertically adjustable in the Z direction independently from each other. The work spindles are horizontally spaced, and include vertical rotating shafts (A1, A2) respectively in the X direction at the point of a distance L from each other. This distance is substantially equivalent to a half of the moving distance (sX) of the cross table 2, or is shorter than the half of the moving distance (sX) of the cross table 2 in the X direction. |
