<p>Provided is a SOx concentration detecting device capable of detecting the SOx concentration in exhaust without using a specialized sensor. As shown in FIG. 4, a current value (I0.3), that flows when a voltage (0.3 V) in the limiting current region is applied, shows a constant value (the limiting current value) regardless of the passage of time. Meanwhile, a current value (I0.6), that flows when a voltage (0.6 V) in an over-current region is applied, decreases with the passage of time and nears the limiting current value 30 seconds after application of the voltage started. In this embodiment, the difference of the current values, |I0.6−I0.3|, is defined as the "SO2 reduction current," and the SO2 concentration around the sensor is detected from the sum of the SO2 reduction current.</p> |
