Said positioning unit includes: a camera (8) positioned toward the object to be captured; two laser pointers (11, 12) directed toward reference points located in a first plane orthogonal to the central axis of the camera (8), the first plane being at a first predetermined distance from the camera; and a system (15) for generating a planar laser beam having a predetermined slope relative to the axis of the cylinder portion when the object is held against the abutments (6). Said device is capable of gripping the object having a gripping area in the form of a surface constituting a portion of a cylinder.
