PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cesium decontamination method capable of removing cesium from decontaminated soil while holding the soil at an ordinary temperature.SOLUTION: A cesium removal method which removes cesium from soil containing the cesium includes a process of mechanochemically treating a clay mineral contained in the soil by grinding the soil by using a grinder. The cesium captured between layers of the clay mineral is volatilized due to the mechanochemical treatment.
