In order to prevent gear-grinding during a reverse shift operation, the manual transmission is provided with: a pre-balk pin (162) that pivots together with a reverse lever (136) in connection with a reverse shift operation; and a pre-balk lever (180) on a specified shift rod (113) for operating a specified synchronization unit (60), the axial movement of the lever being restricted and the lever being capable of rotation around the axis. The pre-balk lever (180) rotates to a specified rotational position in cooperation with the rotation of a control rod (100) during a reverse selection operation. At the specified rotational position, an engaging section (190) of the pre-balk lever (180) engages with the tip of the pre-balk pin (162). When the reverse lever (136) is pivoted in said engaged state, the shift rod (113) moves in the direction for operating the synchronization unit (60). The engaging section (190) is provided with a guiding surface (192) for guiding the tip of the pre-balk pin (162) to a specified engagement position when the pre-balk lever (180) is rotating toward the specified rotational position. |
