PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve light use efficiency.SOLUTION: A light source device 13 that supplies illumination light to a light guide 43 of an endoscope 10 includes a light-emitting device 66, a fluorescent body 36, and a light guide rod 40. The light-emitting device 66 has a laser diode LD1 that emits excitation light for the fluorescent body 36. The light guide rod 40 includes an incident end surface 70, an emission end surface 71, and a side surface 72 that connects the incident end surface 70 and the emission end surface 71, and guides the light incident from the incident end surface 70 to the emission end surface 71 while totally reflecting it, the side surface 72 being a shape tapered with respect to the optical axis so that the area of the emission end surface 71 is larger than that of the incident end surface 70. The incident end surface 70 is optically connected to a light emitting surface 69 of the fluorescent body 36. In the range from the incident end surface 70 to midway toward the emission end surface 71, a reflection film 73 is formed on the whole periphery of the side surface 72. |
