PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deleting device, a deleting method in a deleting device, and an image forming apparatus capable of efficiently avoiding the deleting device from being tainted due to a recording medium having an image thereon that cannot be deleted, and a recording medium that may cause taint damage.SOLUTION: A deleting device comprises: a sheet conveyance path that conveys a sheet; a reading unit that reads an image including an identifier indicating an image forming apparatus that has performed image formation on a sheet; a deleting unit that is provided on downstream in a sheet conveyance direction of the reading unit, and heats a sheet to delete an image on the sheet; a deletion propriety table that stores identifiers and deletion propriety for every identifier; and a control unit that searches for the deletion propriety table on the basis of the identifier read by the reading unit, determines whether deleting processing can be performed on a sheet, and when determining that the deleting processing can be performed, conveys the sheet to the deleting unit. |
