An electric power conversion device having an overcurrent protection circuit that, when an overcurrent has occurred in a semiconductor switching element in a lower-side arm of a half-bridge circuit, stops ON/OFF drive of the semiconductor switching element, said overcurrent protection circuit being provided in a drive circuit that drives the semiconductor switching element. Provided in the lower-side arm drive circuit is an alarm signal generation circuit that generates: a first alarm signal when the overcurrent protection circuit for the lower-side arm is operating; and a second alarm signal when the current that flows to a free-wheeling diode inversely connected to the lower-side arm semiconductor switching element exceeds a current limit value. |
