The cell (1) has a housing (11) comprising an expansion burst region whose elasticity is larger than a elasticity of the housing. The expansion burst region forms a bulge that is turned away by a winding element when temperature-dependant volume change of housing contents increases within a given temperature operation range of the cell. The expansion burst region is arranged to rupture when a predetermined maximum pressure is exceeded within the housing. The housing is formed with stared wall portions. The expansion burst region forms an electrolyte-resistant elastic membrane. The elastic membrane is made of plastic material i.e. elastomer.
